Alejandra is owning it for our merchants across the world. We asked her about her role in the Operations team and what she loves most about being a Worldpayer.

Tell us about your role – what are you responsible for?

I’m part of the Acquiring Operations team in LatAm. We support internal teams with the activation and maintenance of payments processing for all our merchants. My team is responsible for ensuring transactions are processing correctly and payments to our merchants run without issues. We do this by ensuring data integrity compliance and keeping a close eye on acquiring performance trends to identify any anomalies.

What’s your favorite part of the job?

5 colleagues gathering

I love engaging with different teams from different regions – it’s amazing to be part of a global team. It’s really helped me grow both culturally and professionally. I also love that I’m constantly able to learn new things and take on new challenges – the payments industry never stands still and I’m grateful that there’s a lot of talented Worldpayers willing to share their knowledge and experience with me.

What does your typical day look like?

Each day looks different depending on what I have on upcoming deadlines and whether I’m working from home, or in our Buenos Aires Hub. I always make sure I have a good breakfast before I start my day, and of course a big cup of tea – I couldn’t function without it!

I generally start my workday by checking emails and making a to-do list for the day. I’m working on a couple of projects right now with Worldpayers based in the UK, so I always make sure to check in with them first thing to accommodate different time zones. From mid-morning I tend to hold meetings with colleagues based in Argentina, Mexico and Colombia, and then I spend my afternoons on desk work like planning and data analysis.

I love that I get to interact with Worldpayers from across the world, even when I’m working from my home office.

That sounds like a lot! How do you stay on top of everything?

I’m a big fan of to-do lists, and always in a real notebook! I get lost without the list of things that I have on my plate. I need that clear vision to be able to prioritize.

I recently read ‘Get your sh*t together’ by Sarah Knight and it was such a simple and practical guide for organizing, time management, prioritization.

You’ve been a Worldpayer for over 3 years. What advice would you give to someone joining Worldpay?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions - remain humble and curious. Be open and you’ll get far.
