Hi John! Tell us about your role…

I’m responsible for ensuring our Infrastructure Services run as smoothly as possible. They underpin all our Worldpay platforms and products, so we’re often referred to as the Worldpay engine room.

My role is great because I get to interact with so many different Worldpayers, from all levels across the globe. I love learning how my colleagues work best, while ensuring we’re enabling success.

How long have you been a Worldpayer?

I joined in 2012, when a leader from a previous role needed some short-term help. And 13 years later, I’m still owning my career at Worldpay.

Worldpay has changed my life in so many ways. I joined Worldpay as a computer engineer in the technology team. On my very first day, I met the woman who would one day become my wife.

Since then, a lot has happened, both personally and professionally. I bought my first house, got my driver’s license, became assistant manager of the UK computer engineering team, moved into a project manager role, got married, had two children, and then became a global director.

Wow! What a journey. And how has Worldpay helped shape your career?

By constantly changing. With the large change that Worldpay has experienced, I’ve been able to own opportunities that’ve enabled me to grow my career.

What do you think makes Worldpay so special?

It’s the people. We’ve always got that right. Nobody is here by accident, and it shows. When good people pull together, we thrive.

Being a Worldpayer means having integrity, a hard work ethic, and an instinct to do the right thing. It’s enjoying the highs, grafting through the lows, and celebrating our wins together. We’re a large player in the industry, and each of us owns it.

What does your typical day look like?

My children provide the wake-up call! If I’m heading to the office, I’ll leave home around 7am to catch the train into London. You’ll most likely find me listening to the Harry Potter audiobooks on my commute. If I’m working from home, I’ll make breakfast for the children before doing the nursery run and starting my day. Then there’s lots of meetings, spreadsheets, slide-decks, and more meetings to end the day.

What are you most excited about as a Worldpayer?

The future. We can make what we want of it, only if we win together.
