We sat down with Gabriel Bolu, Senior Director Go-to-Market Strategy and EMEA network lead for our Elevate Black Inclusion Network to hear more about his Worldpay journey and how he owns our culture.
Tell us a bit about your role.
Within Go-to-Market, I’m responsible for launching and scaling data products that deliver for our clients and generate significant value for Worldpay. This cuts across many areas, from identifying key target markets and customers for our products, developing value propositions, ensuring we have the right customer messaging and collateral, and developing the pricing structure for our products and solutions. It really is an end-to-end process which I love.
What are you working on at the moment?
Right now, I’m working on several proofs-of-concepts with clients to co-create new solutions. It’s an exciting part of the process as we get to create outcomes that simplify the complex needs of our customers.
How has Worldpay helped you own your career?
For me, it’s about having the space to make my mark. From day one, I’ve been empowered to own projects and drive solutions. By diving in headfirst, I was able to learn about payments quickly, and build visibility and relationships across the business. That’s always my biggest piece of advice to new team members – build a strong internal network. At Worldpay, we have a culture of winning as a team, so the more people you connect with, the more support and collaboration you’ll have.
That’s a nice segway into our culture. Tell us, what does our culture mean to you and what are you excited for?
Overall, I’m really excited about the future of Worldpay – we’ve just launched our new brand and culture, it’s an exciting time to be a part of the business. There’s this energy across our hubs, a feeling that we’re building something big. When I think about our culture, it’s about understanding each other, both as colleagues and as people. It about being empathetic so we can better understand, take responsibility and be collaborative and dynamic to create solutions for our customers.
You’re EMEA network lead for our Elevate Black Inclusion Network, tell us about that.
It’s an important aspect of my role as a Worldpayer, ensuring that I’m owning our culture and making it a place where every colleague can show up as their true self. Within Elevate, we host events, panel discussions, educational events and cultural celebrations. We recently hosted UK Black History Month events including themed lunches, a film screening and a panel discussion.
Final question. Why Worldpay?
One word – culture. I was drawn to the culture of Worldpay, more so than the role if I’m honest! It’s unlike anywhere I’ve worked before, it’s full of collaboration, working together, determination to deliver quality and innovation, but also incredible empathy and fun. It’s why I’ve been here for over 7 years!
