Make your mark at one of the biggest names in payments. We’re looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer to join our ever evolving WPG team and help us unleash the potential of every business.
What you'll own as the Senior Java Software Engineer
As the Software Engineer Senior in the team, you will have a leading voice in all SDLC activities. You will draw on your extensive experience and technical knowledge to take the challenging analysis, design and coding problems. You’ll enjoy mentoring other engineers in the team, champion best practices, and pair with people to solve problems when required. You will work with fellow senior engineers from other teams in our Communities of Practice, to improve how we produce and deliver software.
Write code to solve problems in Java and (PL)SQL on an ecommerce payments gateway operated by Worldpay/FIS.
Work with product managers, system architects, and internal business teams to define system requirements.
Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and requirements.
Work with the product owner and scrum master to lead the team in work breakdown and estimation.
Develop new features following the documented SDLC
Design a rollout and monitoring approach for features to ensure it works as expected
Ensure that the support and operations engineers have the knowledge and tools needed to deliver the service to our customers
Periodic availability outside normal office hours for support of release deployment. Currently we release every few weeks and have a rota.
What you'll bring
Experience delivering software in an industry where precision is critical
Experience delivering software to solve complex business problems
Strong Java knowledge and 7+ years of hands-on experience
OOP design patterns and SOLID development principles
Ability to write code interacting effectively with large databases
Database systems knowledge ideally SQL-based Oracle, or similar
Experience with very large code bases and version control systems
Experience with Linux as a development and production environment
