We caught up with Sarah Manson, Employee Experience Specialist to learn more about her Worldpay career journey and more.

Tell us a bit about your Worldpay career journey.

It all began 7 years ago; I started my career in retail as a Buyer but was looking for a career change. I saw the opportunity to join Worldpay’s Learning & Development team and jumped at it. It sounds cliché, but from day one, it just worked. Straight away, I was owning my own projects, leading training and traveling to our sites globally to meet with other Worldpayers.

After a couple of years, I was offered the opportunity to stand up global Communications and Engagement for our then President. We were just coming out of the pandemic, and we needed a strategy to reconnect our global teams and create a sense of shared belonging and purpose. The role was equal parts challenging and exciting! Let’s just say I never stopped learning.

While I loved this role and the breadth it offered, in early 2024 one of my goals was to specialize in something and really develop my skills. A role came up in our newly formed Employee Experience team and it just seemed too good to miss. Not only would I be specializing in something I love, but I’d also be able to shape our culture for Worldpayers all over the world. I joined the team in March and haven’t looked back since.

If you had to sum up your Worldpay career journey in one sentence, what would it be?

I’d have to say it’s never-ending opportunities, amazing support and working alongside some of the smartest and kindest people I know.

Tell us about your proudest moment since becoming a Worldpayer.

Where do I begin! Taking the lead on our global Sales Kick Off events was amazing – I managed all the mainstage content, messaging and delivery which is pretty cool! Leading our internal mentoring network also has to be up there. During my time leading the program, we expanded from 50 mentor/mentee pairings to over 250. We also hosted live educational sessions with internal and external speakers, the most memorable of which was Elizabeth Nyamayaro, an award-winning humanitarian, author and founder of HeForShe.

And I can’t leave out the launch of our new culture. It was a labor of love in partnership with Worldpayers everywhere – we co-created our three values and nine behaviors over several months and launched them with global events and celebrations in June 2024. It’s a rare opportunity to be able to create an organizational culture from the ground up, and something I’m incredibly proud to have been a part of.

You’re a virtual Worldpayer. What does your average day look like?

Correct, I work from my home office most of the time, though I visit our London hub a few times each quarter which is always so fun. My average day is usually a mix of meetings and work. Recently I’ve been leading the work on embedding our Employer Brand, so I’ve been spending a lot of time training other Worldpayers and creating assets to tell our story. But it doesn’t happen in a vacuum! I work with Worldpayers from across the business to bring it to life, from PR and Comms to Recruitment, IT and more.  We really do win as a team.

I tend to do my best thinking in the mornings, so I try to block my time before 12pm to focus. I always try to get some fresh air at lunch time and then schedule most of my meetings for the afternoon. Being part of a global company with most of my stakeholders based in the US and UK, I find this the best way to crossover with as many Worldpayers as possible.

Final question. What advice would you give to someone considering applying for a role at Worldpay?

It’s simple. Apply! Being a Worldpayer has enabled me to grow both professionally and personally. I’ve met some of my best friends here, owned projects I’m truly proud of, always been supported and empowered and have endless opportunities to try new things.
