We sat down with Bernardo to learn more about his life as a Relationship Manager Worldpayer in Mexico.
Tell us about your role – what are you responsible for?
I’m a Relationship Manager in our LatAm Commercial team. I’m responsible for driving business growth by selling our products and services. I oversee account plans, coordinate global stakeholders, and close deals. My focus is on account retention and exploring new opportunities, leveraging my deep knowledge of our products to influence our product roadmap.

What’s your favorite part of the job?
I love being in contact with clients to share solutions that simplify and enhance their payment ecosystems. I also love working with my local team here in Mexico and South America – there’s no one better!
How did you get the job?
It was definitely a matter of “right place, right time”. I’d just graduated with an MBA and was unemployed and searching for a job to put my learning to good use! I applied for the role at Worldpay and the rest is history – I interviewed with a couple of Worldpayers who I really connected with, and they believed in me enough to give me this amazing opportunity to become a Worldpayer.
What does your typical day look like?
My alarm goes off at 5am – I’m an early bird and love starting my days with some fresh air and a morning run. I just completed my 5th marathon! After a quick shower and breakfast, I sit down and check for any emails that have come in overnight that might need urgent attention.
For the rest of the day, it’s a mix of meetings, planning and work. To stay on top of my accounts, I keep a “book of truth” – an Excel sheet with all the projects I’m working on for each client so I can ensure everything is running smoothly.

What’s the best and worst part of your role?
Best part, that’s easy. The people! They’re always ready to help when I need it. Without them, it would be impossible to succeed in my role. Thanks, team!
Worst part, probably the admin! When you’re in a rush, diving into administrative tasks can be a bit tiresome, but I know it’s necessary.

What’s your favorite memory as a Worldpayer?
It has to be the Sales Kick Off meeting in São Paulo last February! The whole LatAm team comes together for the event - it was filled with forums, presentations, and new people from across the region. The closing party was epic! Great memories!
You’ve mentioned you’re a keen runner before work. What do you do after work?
It depends on the day and how energetic I’m feeling! Some days it’ll be something active like biking, football or padel tennis, other days I enjoy a movie or a nice meal with my wife – our wedding was 6 months ago so we’re enjoying settling into married life right now.
If you weren’t owning it for Worldpay and your clients, what would you be doing?
That’s easy – I’d be a professional footballer! I’m a huge fan of Club América (the best Mexican team ever) and Arsenal (let’s go Gunners), so it’d be a dream come true!
