Senior Java Software Engineer

Billing and Funding within Worldpay has built a pricing and billing engine using big-data tech, we are almost at the end of the first phase of an exciting journey re-engineering our core payments platform to be more cost effective, scalable and cloud ready. The next phase of our journey is a move to the cloud, making our software cloud native, our infrastructure code and using CI/CD to increase our speed of delivery.

• You will be responsible for implementing and expanding the Cloud estate within the programme with a focus on compute, networking, storage, observability, reliability and security.

• You will be responsible for building, implementing and maintaining, infrastructure as code and tooling with the Cloud

• You will create cloud environments and data strategy ensuring interaction with on premise (where applicable), data replication and create CI/CD for faster delivery

• You will strive to make our cloud offering as self service, empowering the engineering community to own their infrastructure and software and enable reuse

• You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations and policy of the internal security teams.

• You will need to work closely with our software engineers bringing them on the cloud journey with a guiding hand

What you'll bring

• 7+ years of hands-on experience

• Experience of building enterprise grade applications on AWS

• Knowledge of Functional programming in Java and Data Structure

• Solid hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services, specifically: IAM, EMR Serverless, Fargate, S3 and CloudWatch

• Experience of building applications with embedded CI/CD to ensure frequent and reliable software delivery

• Strong understanding around CI/CD practices, principles and fundamentals. i.e. Infrastructure as code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.

• Excellent communication skills and a desire to impart knowledge

It’s a bonus if you have

• Experience with Spark

• Experience with VPC, EC2 ELB, Auto-Scaling (including Groups), Route53, Lambda, ECS, CloudFormation and DynamoDB are nice to have
