About the team
Worldpay powers 2.2 trillion payments annually across 146 countries in over 135 separate currencies with over a million-merchants supported globally. Worldpay is the largest acquirer by volume globally, we provide a reliable, secure, and scalable payments platform 24x7 365 days a year.
Being part of the 200 strong Infrastructure Services organization, you’ll help to engineer and deliver the core infrastructure services that power our payments platform. We’re responsible for running some very critical systems, maintaining 20,000 servers via an automation platform, thousands of databases and petabytes of storage hosted from our data centres and public cloud.
We are looking for talented individuals to join the Infrastructure Services organisation; you’ll be a self-starter, possess an analytical mindset and be a change agent.
What you will own
At WorldPay a Storage Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the storage and data protection infrastructure. This includes installing and configuring storage, monitoring system capacity, performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system security. Here is a list of some of the responsibilities with this role.
- Support and administration of Production, Pre-Production (PPE) and Test/Development environments.
- Driving product strategies for storage technologies across a wide spectrum of project and operational stakeholders.
- Provide SME escalation for complex support issues, including rapid response of Worldpay incidents.
- Evaluate system performance and produce reports to recommend and implement platforms improvements as appropriate.
- Produce and maintain relevant technical and operational documentation.
- Fault diagnosis and resolution of service.
- Participation in 24x7 on-call rota and be available for out-of-hours work as required.
- Manage installations and software upgrades to ensure all services are kept as current as possible ensuring that all hardware remains on a supported code base.
- Development and maintain automated services, processes, and procedures.
- Responsible for continual service improvement and management of changes to the service.
- Ensure that all technical and operational documentation is produced and maintained.
What you bring:
- 5+ years demonstrated experience managing the following technologies:
- Fibre Channel Switches/Directors
- Block, File and Archive storage
- Data Backup platforms
- Automation
- Public Cloud Services (desirable but not essential) – GCP / AWS / Azure
- Troubleshooting skills: Strong problem-solving abilities are crucial for Storage engineers to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently. You should be able to troubleshoot system failures, capacity, performance problems, and network connectivity issues effectively.
- Self-starter: assumes responsibility and ownership for successful completion of activities
- Innovative: actively identifies new areas of technology & learning for potential applications within Worldpay
- Communication: capable of translating complex technical concepts in to clear, concise documentation and presentations to a wide audience of stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds.
